Loren is awesome. He’s so right.

Hon March 26, 2007 at 9:31 pm

what a douche.

real money is not made from you working harder.

its made from having other people work harder for you.

Aaron Pratt March 26, 2007 at 10:30 pm

Look out, he’s got a bomb!!!

ogletree March 26, 2007 at 11:46 pm

That was a little in your face but it is true. Every time I blog every day my subscribers goes up. I should start blogging several times a day.

I’m curious Michael did you subscriber list go up when you started blogging a lot more?

Gronk March 26, 2007 at 11:55 pm

The more people talk about/blog/vlog/flog whatever about the A-List the more people learn about it and the more it becomes a reality. it would be really cool if people just STFU about it.

>I’m curious Michael did you subscriber list go up when you started blogging a lot more?

To a certain extent yes, but it’s a combination of quality/quantity, and you have to find the right mix of each, because nobody wants to read a lot of crap ;-)

I completely disagree with the way Loren Feldman uses mass oversimplification to insult his audience and exaggerate the link between hard work and profitability.

Here if my blog response at 3net Search Engine Marketing Blog

>its made from having other people work harder for you.

Exactly Hon, the more people you have under you, the farther you can go.

Michael Goldberg March 27, 2007 at 8:32 am

Um, yeah linkbait by insulting people, thats a great way to get exposure. A-Lists do exist and while he has a point about some things, its not entirely accurate. You could blog 24/7 with spot on content and never get exposure. Why? Its called “right place, right time”

And I also agree that it’s not always an individual effort. I do not think Oprah, Scoble, or Calicanis would be where they are today if it was not for 3 things.

1) Being in the right place at the right time.
2) Making high risk decisions that paid off
3) Having other people advise them with regards to those decisions

Sorry, but it is not always hard work, and most certainly not working harder than everyone else because there are millions of schleps out there that are successful that did not work hard at all.

Sorry, but I do not agree with what he said.

Michael Goldberg March 27, 2007 at 8:40 am

One last question, is the point of these vlogs a way to get exposure by negativity? It is similar to that of a flame war.

Michael Gray March 27, 2007 at 9:12 am

I don’t see that as negativity, I see it as a challenge. You want something don’t expect someone to bring it to you on a silver platter, get off your kiester and work your ass off to get it. It’s not just hard work, and it’s not just shameless self promotion, it’s a combination of both.

Michael Goldberg March 27, 2007 at 9:20 am

Thats is a good point, and I know my work ethics, but in all honesty nobody can say that every A-Lister or person that has made it busted their hump to do it. Granted many may have, but there are many who simply did not.

Michael Gray March 27, 2007 at 9:28 am

well if they didn’t/aren’t busting their hump then they would be pretty easy to defeat/knock out by someone who is.

greg March 27, 2007 at 10:02 am

Oprah was a crack addict?

Lyndoman March 27, 2007 at 11:16 am

I can’t believe how seriously people take his vlogs.

Turn the irony dial up to 11, break out the popcorn and be prepared to have a laugh and learn something out the same time.

Gotta love the Feld.

Aaron Pratt March 27, 2007 at 2:51 pm

Robert Scoble is actually a good example of someone who didn’t bust ass. He is just a silly guy who worked @ Microsoft with a blog. People put him on a pedestal for that simple reason.

How about ProBlogger or SEOBook? Do they have better content than some of the newbies doing the 1 2 3 and top 10 list thing? Not at all, they were there first.

*Refrains from giving further examples*

If you haven’t been reading Aaron since the beginning of January then you’ve been missing out my friend.

Aaron Pratt March 27, 2007 at 4:20 pm

I read some of Aaron’s stuff when I got time, my point is that some bloggers were simply there first.

It is also much harder filling slots that are already taken so if “attention” is what you seek be unique…kind of your main point in the latest posts to this blog yes?

Michael Gray March 27, 2007 at 5:35 pm

>kind of your main point in the latest posts to this blog yes

be unique, add value, and shamelessly self promote. You need all three to get from here to there.

ogletree March 27, 2007 at 7:49 pm

Well I made 3 posts on my blog today and my traffic is way up. It is true that the posts need to be quality. One thing about posting a lot is that a lot of blog search engines order things by post date so the more you blog the more exposure you get on those things.
