C’mon Facebook I really thought we had moved past this

It’s not that I care that you are telling everyone I bought tickets to Kung Fu Panda, it’s that you assume that I want you to by default. These programs should be opt in not opt out out. Yes I know almost nobody would do that … but that should be your clue that it’s a bad idea … just sayin …

Just a point of clarification. Facebook itself most likely had nothing to do with this opt in opt out business. Facebook has for better or worse allowed 3rd party vendors to distribute social networking programs on their website. So the third party vendor who designed the Fandango app actually made a poor usability decision. Perhaps Facebook should be enforcing(suggesting) some usability rules with their partners about opting in and out of emails. Because 3rd party members such as Fandango have one objective, selling product, so they will go with opt in every time, instead of opt out.
