Earlier this week Barbara Boser of 3 Dog Media made a post asking people to turn their avatars pink for Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

So in an effort to help a good cause I tried to play along, however trying to turn my avatar a shade of pink wasn’t as easy as I thought, I ended up being several shades of purple. So I twittered hoping somebody with an “in” would get in touch with the folks at Picnik.com about adding a pink filter.

Turns out the Picnik folks have a twitter account and are monitoring for vanity searches and responded to my tweet

Then Friday afternoon they announced a special pink filter

You can get the full story on the Picnik blog.

Moral of the story social media can be a powerful tool, if you are willing to learn how to use it.

If you are looking to go pink or looking for a good image editing software give picnik a try. Also consider donating to National Breast Cancer Foundation.

Disclaimer:
No picnik is not a client and this was not a sponsored post. I’m actually a paying picnik customer. Ever since I started moving into “the cloud” I’ve been looking for ways to replace desktop apps wherever possible and picnik was the best I found.
