Since I received a few ‘hey are you ok it’s been more than 2 days since you blogged emails’ Thought I’d let you know I’m alive and doing well just buried under a mountain of work with some looming deadlines.

I was also just appointed moderator of the Social Media Tagging and Bookmarking Optimization forum at WebmasterWorld. It’s a new forum and it’s just getting off the ground, but feel free to stop by and post your questions or comments.

I’ve been a member on WMW since 2002 when I wandered into to ASP forum with some noob questions and some helpful folks set me straight. I can also say that WMW was a very big part of helping me learn the skills I needed to leave my 9 to 5 day job and go out on my own, so I’m glad to be in a position where I can hopefully do the same for others.

Hey Michael, congrats! Now that last morsel of free time is, poof!

Actually, knowing you’re the moderator there might just motivate me to revisit the WMW forum.

free time … hmm … I vaguely recall hearing that word a long time ago :-)

Hmmm. I’ve been hanging around DigitalPoint forums more lately. Which would you say provides the most value?

Looks like the Social Media forum is a paid-only area.

Rae April 25, 2007 at 11:13 am

It is a paid only area… imho, the subscription price is low for all the knowledge floating around there… but that’s just my two cents.

Ken Savage April 26, 2007 at 1:35 am

It’s paid but I wonder if it’s full of whiney questions and 75% useless material.

I can respect the fact that you guys have to keep a positive outlook on the situation now that Michael is a mod there.

Only way to tell is throw out $89 and find out myself.

For me that has nothing to do with it. I’ve been a mod at wmw for close to two years, but I was paying for the subscription long before I became a mod. Are there whiney questions and noise? Yep. It’s rare for a forum to lack that. But, how many slivers of information or ideas do you need to get to justify 89 dollars? Just one.

Michael Gray April 26, 2007 at 5:23 pm

I can say with all honesty I’ve gotten more that $89 dollars worth of info on the free side, so ponying up was a no brainer.
