So if you’ve been reading Jim Boykin’s blog you know he recently set up his MySpace Page. Like most people Jim original page … well needed a little help as can be seen by the comments. Since I’m Jim’s MySpace friend and I’m in his “top 8″ I did the neighborly thing and helped him out. Now the new page isn’t like ‘da bomb’ it’s a plain simple page, check out Jim Boykin’s new MySpace page.

You can put lipstick on a dead cat, but ultimately it will still be a dead cat!

You’re right – MySpace profiles don’t need to be ugly – but even if you simplify your design and get it looking “clean” – under the hood the underlying markup is still a shambles.

That said, its much improved though, far easier on the eye – well done!

Hey Graywolf… nice job on Jim’s MySpace, but I’m his #1 friend! LOL :P

Have you seen Mike Davidson’s piece on Hacking A More Tasteful MySpace?

He does a pretty damn good job of cleaning up his MySpace page…

I think you did a fine job with Jim’s MySpace page. MySpace design/optimization seems like an interesting market, although I’m not sure how profitable it would be unless you’re doing work for brands.

But what I like even better is this blog: http://www.myspace.com/d0401

I think he’s done a great job of designing his myspace profile, quite respectable in my opinion.

Nice work. I decided to jump in the fray with a myspace page, but couldn’t justify the ugliness until I found Mike D.’s writeup over at: http://www.mikeindustries.com/blog/archive/2006/04/hacking-myspace-layouts Now I can at least feel some superiority over MySpace’s unwashed legions.

It’s true… MySpace is ugly by default.

Check out this website. It has everything you need to fix up your MySpace page.

I also love the way they blended the ads into the main menu and content. When you refresh the page, all the ads change position randomly via simple PHP script to help prevent banner blindness. The only thing missing would be thumbnail photos next to the ads that also refresh with new photos on a random basis.

I’ll bet that you have thousands of friends with ugly pages that might need some help as well.

Aloha,
Dave

Thanks again for the help! I felt like a teenager with the crappy design…but I feel professional again thanks to your help…
…say, Hawaii, I loved the adsense layout in the link you gave!
