I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, getting your head wrapped around social bookmarking and why it’s important is really crucial.

If you subscribe to my delicious blog or my Delicious feed you’ll know I’m an active user (although Bill Slawaski makes me look like an old lady without a mouse), but I digress). So you say what’s in it for me, why is it important for me to encourage social bookmarking? Let’s take a look at the SERP’s for my buddy [stuntdubl].

Since Todd’s my friend, and I find what he posts interesting or enjoyable I bookmark it, and there it is for everyone to see. Some clever folks may even noticed I bookmarked some interviews he gave on other sites or posts he’s made in other forums. If someone is deciding if he’s a consultant they want to hire, and comes across my delicious links do you think thats a good thing and might influence that decision in a positive way?

Imagine for a moment that instead of bookmarking someone because they are good, I am building a bunch of links about someone who I dislike. Remember web 2.0 is brave new world out there and you can’t always control the message.

Delicious is a great tool, isn’t it.

I like it because it’s so easy to use, and easy to find things on that I’ve tagged. And you can export your tags.

Heh - yes I noticed your result come up for my name as well, thanks Michael. I signed up after seeing how you imported the links here, very clever. I just need more messing-around-at-weekend time to play with these things :)
