Yahoo Launched myWeb search storage tool this week. I’m not a big fan of search engines saving what I search for but this is slightly different. Whereas the Google search tool acts in a passive mode saving every search you make, Yahoo requires a direct action on your part, worlds apart. Now there is some debate over how exact the copy being saved is at WMW (see Yahoo rips Adsense ads) so I guess it depends on what you are looking for.

However I think this is a great counter intelligence tool. You could do a backlinks search on a competitor at Yahoo, save the results weekly, and try to establish a correlation between changes in rankings.

Some other great counter intelligence tools that I’ve seen lately:

Googspy: Lets you see what Adwords terms your competitors are bidding on.

URLTrends: Lets you monitor a variety of aspects about your competitors websites

One of the best counter intelligence threads comes from BakedJake at WMW Dissecting Competitors’ SEO Work (WMW supporters forum)
