Since the writers have been on strike now for ever, and they’ve managed to all but eliminate anything interesting from TV (except of course American Gladiators and Gossip Girl) what can you do to keep yourself occupied on winter nights … check out the Semmy Awards!

Matt McGee put together a top notch list of search engine related posts and got a prestigious bunch of judges to help narrow down the field. When most of them were far to busy and declined the invitation, in a panic stricken moment of desperation Matt asked me help (just kidding).
I’m working with Tamar and we’re judging the blogs category. While I had seen most of the entries in that category there were a few that slipped by me, and there were even some from blogs I had never heard of before. While it did take a few hours to go through and read all of them, I’d definitely say it’s a worthwhile use of your time.
I also had several of the posts from this blog nominated

Why Website grader is a bad idea
Google’s love Affair with Wikipedia
Local Search Interviews (which totally kicks ass)
Your Stories Never Go Popular Because Your Personal Marketing Plan Sucks
Google’s Policy on No follow and Reviews is Hypocritical and Wrong
Google Adds Paid Links Reporting
New Google Adwords Formula = Just Pay Us More
What Google Knols Can Teach You About Google’s Philosophy
Matt Cutts Says Financial Arrangements Should Affect All Links Within a Post
Now normally people who get nominated for these kind of things say sappy stuff like “it’s and honor just to be nominated”, but I’m so over that, I want to win dammit!
I mean really ok maybe I didn’t deserve to win best SEO blog in the search engine journal awards, but I totally should have kicked Matt Cutts butt in the paid links category, c’mon hanging chads and tri-fold ballots, Ron Paul being censored on TV and all that conspiracy stuff. I’m being held down by the man!
Then in the Performancing Awards I got the pity vote runner up editors choice for Best SEO Blog. So I guess I have to sit around and wait for Aaron to do something which makes him unable to fulfill his obligation, before I get a chance to bask in the glow of being an awards winner.
For some reason Matt felt it would be a conflict of interest for people to judge a category where they were nominated, go figure …

“I’m so over that, I want to win dammit!”
Priceless.
Regrettably I’ve been reduced to following the Semmys and watching Gossip Girl too… :/ It’s a sad time in TV we live in… a sad time.
Anyway… I’d like to see a follow-up to this post, “10 Things I’ll do with my Semmy”

Are you nominated in the same category you are judging? Surely not..

It’s refreshing that you’re truthful about your wants. Tee hee, I smile every time the word ’semmy’ is used btw.
