I don't know about your answer of no. I'll bet that some of them knew. I'll bet that some of them find that to be the highlight of their week or month when a young child comes in and has the world turned on for him/her. Some of them may have had similar life changing experiences and, like you, want to affect the same change in someone else.

As I learn to teach (removed temporarily by TJoe for the SST Contest) to young kids, I find it especially gratifying when one of them gets what we are trying to do. You can see them wake up inside and actually comprehend everything going on around them. Most of the time they just exist in this busy world and filter out anything that isn't shiny or fun. But, once in awhile, the light turns on and they become a part of it. Sadly, depending on their age, the next time you see them, they might be back to the way they were before, but you get to keep in your own mind and heart how you felt on that day when you woke them up. It's one of the things that keeps you going.

So when are you gonna visit <a HREF="http://www.blogger.com/r?http%3A%2F%2Fwww.astron.nl%2Fp%2Fobserving.htm" rel="nofollow">WSRT</a>? Maybe you will find some green men after all.

It is a radio telescope array though. No happy fun pictures. :-)
