*** SPOILER WARNING IF YOU HAVEN’T SEEN THE INCREDIBLES OR DON”T WANT TO LEARN PLOT DETAILS DON’T READ PAST THIS POINT ****

Ok if you haven’t seen it yet, get it in gear and go see it! I’m a big fan of Pixar, I think Toy Story and Finding Nemo, were some really excellent movies. Ok I’ve always had a weak spot for computer animation since Tron came out (hmm save that for another time). However I liked those movies for the same reason I liked The Incredibles, for the story!

Ok nifty special effects can carry some pretty lame movies, anybody remember anything except the dinosaurs from Jurassic Park II, or Jurassic Park III? But when it comes down to where the rubber hits the road, you have to have the a decent story or you aren’t going anywhere. So about a third of the way into the movie we hit third gear, and it’s all golden after that. It has the feel of a James Bond movie, back when James Bond movies were good, not just an opportunity for companines to like Omega Watch to have paid placement spots on Pierce Brosnan.

The Incredibles soundtrack for the first half is pretty subdued, but once everyone is on the top secret island, you start to notice it. Michael Giacchino does an excellent job of giving the movie the feel of those classic 60’s spy shows like Mission Impossible, The Saint, and The Man from Uncle. The music never tries to take control, it’s content to play a supporting role to the plot. I’ve been a big fan of Michael Giacchino’s work ever since I heard it on the Best Movie Soundtrack Station, StreamingSoundtracks.com. He’s done some games like the Medal of Honor series, and more recently the soundtrack to the TV spy drama Alias.

So to bring it all together good soundtrack, good animation, GREAT STORY, it doesn’t get much better.
