I run some scraper sites, there I’ve said it it’s out in the open. Even though I’m constantly refining my scripts I just don’t think it’s cool to be bragging about them. It’s kind of like dirty underwear, we all have it and know everybody else does too, but nobody’s sharing the URL’s with the world. With that said I find it fascinating people are willing to showcase flagrant full scrapes with no backlink attribution. I mean sheesh if you’re going to outright steal the whole darn thing give a little link love back okay? And my God for the love of all that’s holy don’t be bragging about how much money it’s making you.

Scraper!! :) Yeah I totally agree… I was listening to Shoemoney on SEO Rockstars and Greg made a similar comment when the topic of evil scrapers came up. He said, “If you’re going to scrape my content at least leave my link. If you don’t, I’m going to report you…” I think that’s fair :)

P.S. Great blog man… I dig your writing style.

Thanks for the compliment. The thing that really gets my goat is everybody else is like yeah man great job, but if someone was scraping their blog well I think there would be more whining the kudos

Yeah that is typical… The way I look at it is if I get scraped (which I have ruthlessly) it is almost like RSS or article submission IF they keep my links in place. More often than not, however, this is not the case. I’m also too damn busy making more content to worry too much about all my old anyway…

and, you’re welcome :) Keep dropping the good knowledge!

Some people are really bothered by scrapers, I’m not. I had one site in a low-search volume, high CPC niche actually get more traffic from a scraper than any other source.

Hi

Quick question about scraper sites and the like: Do you have a seperate AdSense account to display ads on those sites? Just wondering if it’s safer that way, or if there’s no reason to see if Google closes your account because of these sites.

Is this a REALLY amateur question? ;-)

Thanks.

It’s very very rare that I’ve ever heard of a scraper being dropped just for content. Usually there are other things going on as well.

i am thinking of setting up a scraper site myself. I am tired of having my content scraped with no end in sight. I might as well join the bandwagon.

I’ve heard of scraping before. How is this done? Is it automated or is someone actually going over sites manually.
