RSS Advertising Gone Wrong

If you’ve been reading my blog for any length of time you know I’m a big Disney Fan. There are a few disney websites/forums I read but there’s one that’s always been ears and tails above the rest. It always had the sprinkling of advertising/affilaite ads thrown in, but they seemed handpicked for value they would give the reader. The owner cared more about you than her pocketbook and it showed.
Slowly late last year things started to change. The content never lost it’s power but the advertising started becoming more important. As an affiliate insider I was even shocked to see the site win one of those affiliate network weekly prizes.
This week I noticed the site added RSS feeds. However instead of publshing RSS content, they publish RSS advertisments, just advertisements. I am keenly aware of what it takes to keep a site like that running. Hosting, programming, writiting content and other maintenance issues take time and money, but you can only take things to far. I want my MouseSavers.com back!
