January 9, 2005 the blog is listed in all of the major search engines like Google, Yahoo, and MSN.
Yeah, yeah I hear ya’ whining out there, c’mon graywolf how they heck did you do that, I mean aren’t you a self admitted sp@mmer! Yeah I am but, there’s a time and place for that kind of stuff. If you’re going after an aggressive industry like those little blue pills, and you don’t pull out all the stops, well you might as well compete in the Daytona 500 in a Yugo, you’d have a better shot at winning. However if you’re trying to compete in a tiny little niche like “fuzzy pink sock puppets in Los Angeles”, you gotta’ play much cleaner , or you’ll stick out like Hagrid at a Wizard of Oz reunion. You don’t want to be the 800LB gorilla in the category, you just want to be just that little bit better than everybody else.
Now unless you happen to have a loyal group of friends who’ll read anything you write, you’re going to have to take some aggressive steps. Your blog should have a core topic, yes you can meander about from time to time, but the majority of your posts you be centered around your topic. Next find some other websites about the same subject as your blog. If they have a forum, add a link to you blog in your signature. IF THE TOPICS ARE RELATED AND NOT COMPETITIVE THIS IS NOT SP@M!
Find some blogs about your topic, and make some comments. IF YOUR COMMENTS ARE TOPIC RELATED THEY ARE NOT SP@M!
Add trackback to your blog and reference other people’s blogs, then send a trackback ping from your blog. IF YOU LINK TO THEM AND THE TOPICS ARE RELATED, THIS IS NOT SP@M.
Every so often make some polite, but completely wacky, controversial posting. If you can take the heat say something so off the wall people will link to you, just to blast you and say what an idiot they think you are. Politics, music, and sports are great for this sort of thing.
