I lick the spoon do you? Oh sure I know it’s not safe, and shouldn’t do, but maybe that’s why I still do it, and enjoy it so much.

Now before you go jumping to any conclusions I’m talking about baking a cake. I remember when I was kid, grandma would call us into the kitchen and hand my sister and I each one of the blades off of the mixer. We would lick the cake off the shiny curved metal surfaces twisting our tongues to get every drop.

Now I’m older I still lick the cake batter. Doesn’t matter if it’s a mixer blade, paddle, spatula, or spoon. I lick the spoon.

You can’t cook properly without sampling the dish-in-progress… whether slurping, licking, sticking a finger in the bowl, whatever. Heck, by the time I’m done cooking something, I’m usually not even hungry anymore! ;-) -mivox
