So when do you give kids their own email address? Many children’s websites ask you for an email address to register before you can access some of the more advanced offerings. My 6 year old can write and spell easy words and sentences. She also knows that she’s never supposed to give any personal information out over the internet. Ok and yes there is the peer pressure issue, some of her school friends have email addresses. I could easily give her something easy on one my 3 letter domain names, and have it copy to me so I see what she’s getting. Problem is that little voice in the back of my head keeps saying “don’t do it”.

There are email services out there just for kids. Zilladog.com has a secure email and it is also fun for kids. Parents can contol the “buddy list” so kids can only send and receive email from the names logged in.
