Ok I’ll admit it, as a kid I watched the Dukes of Hazzard, on Friday night. For a teenage boy going through puberty, it had everything you could ask for. Bo and Luke Duke were those mischievous boys always in trouble with the law (who symbolized your parents). They drove the General Lee, a bright orange 1969 Charger with the confederate flag painted on top. Even though I was too young to drive, I WANTED THAT CAR! Then there was Daisy Duke (sigh). Daisy Duke was HOT! She was a brunette (see leopard print bikini to find out about my childhood blond phobia), she was curvy, she had great legs and wore really high heels all the time. Then there were the shorts. They were as short as you could get away with on network TV in the 70’s. Even today we still call a pair of really short shorts “Daisy Dukes”

I was surfing around today and I found out Jessica Simpson has been cast to play Daisy Duke in the upcoming movie (news story). Okay WTF? First of all … hello … she’s a blond! Maybe I’m just wierd but the first hair color you have when I see you is the hair color you have in my minds eye. Yes I’ve met lots of women who when I met them were blond but eventually went back to brunette but I always think of them as blond. Secondly, not to be insulting but she’s ditzy. Yea I know it’s TV and it’s part of her schtick, but she does ditzy a little too well, if you know what I mean. Daisy was never above using her assets to get what she wanted, but you never got the feeling some village was wondering where their idiot had wandered off too. Yes I know she’s hot right now, very topical, and has a good Q Rating but c’mon guys you could do better. How about Catherine Zeta Jones, Alyssa Milano, Jennifer Love Hewitt, or even Shania Twain. Yeah, yeah I know Shania isn’t an actress, but are you going to complain when she struts her stuff in a pair of “Daisy Dukes”?
