In a keynote address today Jason Calacanis said “SEO is bullshit, if you generate a web page with good content Google will rank the page properly” Let’s see if that’s true.

LOL here we go again. I wonder if this was all planned by Jason. He saw what publicity Ted got and figured it would be some great link bait.

Yeah, you say something like that at an SEO conference and you’re bound to get a lot of attention and links. On the other hand if he had said SEO is good, no one would have noticed.

Ok, I can see going after Calacanis, not Leonsis. Not a good move to belittle a large segment of an industry when you’re the keynote speaker for a conference about that industry. Anyway, linked to this post from one of my blogs.

The real test would be to take a fairly unknown blogger like myself and push me up in SEO rank. Then I could absolutely provide you with the revenue increase that was directly achieved through the increase in SEO. I’d be happy to provide you access to my Analytics where we could track it.

Wasting it on a well-known blogger may not have an impact.

Regards,
Doug

He just gets better and better doesn’t he?

At least that’s one person’s assessment.

Of course, voting for yourself really shouldn’t count.

I completely agree that writing good content is the absolute best way to generate traffic — via search engines or word of mouth. However, in my own article on this topic (http://www.camturner.com/archives/how-to-meet-new-friends-traffic-generation-basics/) I also mention that you need to properly construct the website so that the search engines can make sense of it. Oh, and patience is key too. Getting good traffic from Google won’t happen overnight.

Haha, this post is interesting, Calacanis posted a comment on my blog about him not following up on his word because he interviewed my partner Justin Walton, and admitted that SEO isn’t all that bad. But then never aired the post because he realized that he admitted to something he wants everyone else to think isn’t true!
