Ok so I’ve run most of my guest posts, I still have two or three to run, but they won’t be going live until after SES San Jose. So what did you think? Like em? Dislike em?

I’ve enjoyed them. Very much in a different style and possibly I would never have found them to begin with.

Whilst I don’t have a problem with guest posts and your guests did a reasonable job I can’t help thinking that they dilute the Michael Gray’ness of this blog. Not a good thing on the Michael Gray blog.

KISS SEO – Too simple and short. Ironically, it is too KISS. 2.5/5
Blogher, Pro-Woman or Anti-Man? – Same as the previous. 3/5

Both of them didn’t provide any real value, at least for me.

They were all of good quality. Keep them coming.

Douglas Karr August 14, 2008 at 8:42 am

I like them! They give me a break and expose my audience to others. The reverse is true if I do a guest post elsewhere. Whenever you’d like to do a guest post on my blog, let me know!

As long as Wolf to Guest ratio is high and the guest posts are valuable: like

Josh@JaeWeb August 14, 2008 at 9:55 am

can be a bit disappointing when it isn’t you but the guests do add a lot of value so it’s no problem with me ;) keep em coming

i enjoyed the latest real estate post.

Joe Hall August 14, 2008 at 10:52 am

Honestly, I think they are great! Am I aloud to say that??

Smudgely August 14, 2008 at 11:20 am

To sit on the fence completely – some were good some were poop. I think it’s nice to have it every now and then, maybe not all in one go. I missed ya a lil bit!

Jeff Preston August 14, 2008 at 2:33 pm

the real estate one was pretty good

Adam Snider August 14, 2008 at 4:17 pm

I enjoyed all of them, though, like Tiago I did find the KISS and Blogher ones to be of little value to me personally. I still enjoyed reading them, but they didn’t really take away much value from them.

But, I did like the guest posts, and wouldn’t mind seeing more in the future.

Rae August 14, 2008 at 5:05 pm

I like the guest posts…. even if they are so serious :)

Bryn Youngblut August 14, 2008 at 8:49 pm

I don’t know why buy I get turned off by guest posts, as soon as I see at the top “this is a guest post by…” in my reader I usually immediately close it unless it has a REALLY catchy title I may read a bit.

Mario August 15, 2008 at 9:10 am

To be honest, they have produced some quality content but – its not in the “Greywolf style”, so I must say that I didn’t “digest” them in a way I would do with your posts…

I wouldn’t mind more in the future, but probably in a ratio of 1:10 posts…

I’ve enjoyed them too!Seo Administrator is an integrated suite of web promotion utilities that cover all aspects of website optimization and promotion.

I think it is a good thing to have guest posts. It gives different perspectives on relevant topics. Much like an offline magazine publication, having different writers provides the opportunity to read different writing styles while staying on topic.

Personally, I think that all top blogs get to the point where having different writing helps keep things fresh and interesting…

I think the guest posts were a tad bit under-developed, especially the KISS post.

I’m not a fan of guest posts, they either smack of self promotion or just act as filler for the main blog.

Michael D August 17, 2008 at 8:54 pm

I like them. Guest posters have done a good job so far. Gives them an opportunity to show us what they are about.

Melissa - SEOAware.com August 18, 2008 at 1:44 pm

Michael, you could do what SEOmoz did and have a seperate section for guest bloggers. Great benefits there :-)

Gab Goldenberg August 19, 2008 at 2:57 am

Liking them, and fun to see that 1) other folks are looking at sponsored link footprints and 2) you let that be published hehe. guess your clients are more subtle than that, Mike :) ?

p.s. Would like to write one for you blog.

Gab Goldenberg August 19, 2008 at 2:59 am

And perhaps make it a series if you like it n the audience does :D .

Rennie August 19, 2008 at 8:53 pm

I like to see what people are saying. It’s a sure way to find out who you are reaching. Also, it’s nice to see that you review them before you post them. I hate coming across blogs that have profanity and unnecessary garbage like people arguing back and forth. Although entertaining sometimes it can get out of hand.

Lagerhall maskinhall August 21, 2008 at 1:04 am

i agree with michael d.

Brian Turner August 23, 2008 at 11:49 am

Michael, how often do you read SEOmoz, and how often do you read their Youmoz section?

Does that answer your question? :)
