Unless you were completely asleep or under a very big rock you no doubt heard about the launch of Google Finance. However since I’ve given up on regurgitated news I’d like to talk about ways to use Google finance for fun and profit.
For example lets take look at an actual listing for a company likeVonage (screen shot below).

Notice the areas indicated by the red arrows. The upper one features sites from Google news and press releases. Google has actually done a better job in recent months filtering out lower quality news sites, so getting a site accepted in the news section is a little harder. Press releases are another angle, however unless you can time big events, are writing about major big dollar keywords, or can get free press releases listed, getting the ROI to work is going to be tough.
Now look at the are on the bottom, those listing come directly from Google blog search (this post wasn’t written today so it won’t match). Getting into Google blog search is much easier than getting into Google news. Getting a listing up there on a continual basis is a little more tricky. Unless you are going to use some cheap labor you are going to need a button pushing automated solution to make it profitable. Ok great but let’s say you don’t know which companies to target try the 500 companies that are listed in the S&P 500 for starters. Another idea pick a nice vertical niche market like cellular companies, auto manufacturer’s, or consumer electronics. Go forth be fruitful and profitable with the new Google Finance.
