Ok since I’ve started a few converts down the Firefox path I figure it might be time for a helper guide. First you will need to download Firefox.

Extensions - These are the little add-ins that make Firefox so damn cool!

Tabbed Browsing - this extension allows you have multiple browsing instances in one window. For example you could have your bank statement in one tab, your stocks in another and your credit card in a third. You can also bookmark them so you can comeback to them at any time.

Context Search - This allows you to search in more intuitive manner. Say there is a word you don’t know you highlight it with your mouse, a dialog box pops-up you tell it to go search for the word on dictionary.com. Say you see the word “Elvis” on a page you highlight it you can search for “Elvis” on Google, Yahoo, Yahoo News, IMDB, Amazon , eBay or any other search you have added.
**Tip: To add a search click on the box located next to the address line when the dialog box pops-up choose “add engines” (Thanks Cocles).

Google Bar - This is almost the identical bar you probably have on your version of Internet Explorer work pretty much the same

**Tip: If you are concerned about Google Page Rank it doesn’t come with the Firefox Google Bar you will need a separate extension.

That’s all you really need, however feel free to look for other Firefox extensions.
Configuration Changes

Now this comes from a post originally at webmasterworld.com in a thread called Making Firefox as fast as Opera

Type “about:config” in your Firefox address bar. The settings you’re looking for are:

1.) network.http.pipelining
2.) network.http.pipelining.maxrequests
3.) network.http.proxy.pipelining

Set #1, and #3 to “true”. Set #2 to 0.

Got a tip to pass on email me and I’ll put it up and give you credit.
