Gecko's DragonWhen I was a kid I was a fairly voracious reader. I read about all different things like baseball, pirates, knights, and astronomy. However one book that really took hold was The Hobbit. It laid the foundation for my interest in fantasy literature and eventually Dungeons and Dragons. Like most boys my age I read comics as well. One of the books I read regularly was Conan. It was on the cover of Conan that I first became exposed to the grandfather of all fantasy artists Frank Frazetta. Many other people first came across his work when it was featured on a Molly Hatchet Album cover. However his most famous painting was the Death Dealer which was recently resurrected for a Honda Motorcycle advertisement.

Later I came across others like Boris Valejjo and the Hildebrant Brothers. Ok in all honestly Boris’s work is way more polished than Frazetta’s ever was, but he never would have made it Frazetta didn’t pave the way. One of the things I really liked about the Hildebrant’s work was some of the paintings they made of dragons.

Earlier this week I came across the work of the Gecko’s online gallery, with some really excellent artwork. My favorite’s are Ice Dragon, and Reptude of the Dragon. There is a lot of other work there that you may enjoy so check it out. Gecko’s online gallery
