Maybe it’s because I’m a guy, but I always gain some small bit of satisfaction in knowing there’s someone who’s got it worse than me. I was reading ‘My So-Called Digital Life‘ over at wired today, and can honestly point my finger and say “See I’m not that bad”. The article is about Mary Hodder who runs the blog Napsterization.org. She chronicles the digital media world in the San Francisco Bay Area.
Well maybe I do only read the newspaper once every 6 months. Maybe I don’t watch and TV shows regularly. But hey I’m at least clued in enough to know Survivor is nowhere near as hot as it used to be, The Apprentice is very hip and almost manages to make Donald Trump look cool, and nothing right now is hotter than Desperate Housewives (I had to find some way to justify putting up a picture of Teri Hatcher, ok).
Yes, I do spend more hours in front of my laptop than I’d care to admit to, but I do unplug from time to time. I try to go out to lunch with someone at least once a week. So what if I can actually decipher regular expression, I still know you have to take time off now and then to sharpen the saw. In fact next week I’m going on a trip to do some research for an ebook I’m writing, a Walt Disney World Travel Guide. What … yes my laptop is coming along for the trip. But it’s for business reasons … really … and so the kids can watch DVD’s while we are getting ready in the morning … and I’m not going to blog for at least 9 days … really … what you don’t believe me …
