Yet another another example of people refusing to take responsibility for their own actions or inactions and blame other people for causing their problems, the producers of Sesame Street have succumbed to public pressure and put Cookie Monster on a diet (news). While the producers are steering clear of actually using the “diet” word, they are changing his theme song from “C is for cookie, it’s good enough for me” to “A cookie is a sometimes food”. Umm … sorry that’s not fun, catchy, memorable, mildly entertaining or something you or your kids would want to sing on a car long trip. If they introduce the broccoli bear, alfalfa monster, or carob critters next I swear I’m going to lose it.

Since nobody seems to want to come out and say it I will:

  • If you are fat, it’s your own fault for not eating the right foods and exercising enough.

  • If your kids are fat, it’s your fault as parent for feeding them the wrong foods and not having them get enough exercise.
  • Nobody on TV or who writes newspapers or magazines makes you do anything.
  • You are responsible for the choices you make, the things you do, and the things you choose not to do.
  • If you don’t like your current job/love life/financial status/weight, then get off your ass and do something to change it.
