Well congratulations you socialists troglodytes you won. Martha Stewart was sentenced to 5 months of jail time, 5 months house arrest, 2 years probation and was fined $30,000. You got what you wanted … or did you? Lets look a little deeper shall we.

Remember Enron, Tyco and WorldCom? Through complex financial schemes they cheated companies out of billions of dollars, bankrupted corporations,  and caused thousands of people to lose jobs and pensions. America as whole was outraged, how did we allow this to happen, how did this happen without anybody blowing the whistle, and by the way could you explain what they did so John Q. Public could understand it. Therein lies part of the problem. Only the upper echelon of the financial world could understand the Byzantine financial schemes they concocted. So the investigators had a hard time figuring out who did what and who to hold accountable. The public was outraged but just as confused, and due to lack of understanding had no one to direct their anger at in the court of public opinion.

Along comes Martha Stewart. She’s allegedly involved in crime everyone can understand, insider trading. The media jumps all over it and …. BINGO … We have a scapegoat for corporate misdoings.

So we go through a trial and she’s found guilty of perjury, but acquitted of insider trading. Ok you commie pinko’s pay attention to what happens next. Martha Stewart Omnipedia (MSO) drops from around $15 per share to $8 a share (see detail). With Martha involved in a trial she doesn’t have time to work on her TV show her company continues to falter and has to start laying off people (news story). When all is said and done almost 200 people were laid off. SO congratulations America you caused the very thing you were trying to punish someone for!

Lets try a novel concept next time, if Martha is guilty then PUNISH MARTHA, not her employees who end up like victims of a random drive-by shooting. How about letting the punishment fit the crime, how about community service, how about a big ass fine!

So wake up out there America lets hope you come to your senses before November.

That was great! :) I think too many people were jealous of a succesful white woman. “lets see princess perfect fall.” I am hoping she gets her appeal.

Okay. I agree that all the enron people, etc. should have been punished. But I for one am glad that they actually stuck to the federal guidelines on someone of her status. The Federal Guidelines is a red book that tells the judge what the minimum and maximum mandates are for each crime. She got the minimum allowed under law. Same as you or I would get for the exact same crime. These guidelines were established to stop the special treatment of rich and well known people. I think what is bad is how high her stock rose once she was sentenced.

Can anyone tell me what the federal guidelines say about bank embezzlement?
