Now that the Dave Pasternack SEO contest is over it’s time to exercise some professional responsibility and clean up the mess we created.

As Greg mentioned in his post there is another Dave Pasternack, who’s a chef and owns the restaurant Esca in New York. To come in and mess things for him just because some frog who desperately wanted to be a prince shot off his mouth talking trash, is decidedly uncool.

So if you had a Dave Pasternack page do the right thing and redirect it to (http://www.jamesbeard.org/events/2005/05/002.shtml) or (http://www.esca-nyc.com/) or any of the other listings Greg happened to mentioned. if you set up some hosted pages on squidoo, wordpress, blogspot or other spots and can’t 301, then put a really big, really obvious note, as the very first thing on your page with links to the real Dave Pasternack.

Me I’m looking forward to visiting ESCA come SES in April.

The chef has plenty of links, I would prefer to remove all reference of “seo contests” from my blog including Dave Pasternack.

Removing it is fine, as long as you do it properly, you’ve seen first hand the damage that comes from deleting big chunks of content.

Thanks for reminding me, I definitely need to do something about my Dave Pasternack mess I created over this.
