Choice of Vocabulary

I really hate to keep beating a dead horse but, dammit if no one in the SEO world is going to take up the charge of making things more understandable I will. For example here is the third sentence in a new document from Orion:

This leads to a perception mismatch that makes more than one metric irrelevant.

WTF? Have you ever watched Sesame Street, School House Rock or Bill Nye the Science Guy? Big words don’t help to make your work any easier to understand. To prove my point I’ll rewrite the sentence:

This causes a misunderstanding in the interpretation of the document, making the tools used to analyze it useless.

Ok which sentence did you understand? If Jakob Nielsen is going to be a usability guru, maybe there’s a niche for me as an understandability guru …
