I have always hated directory marketing. Schlepping around soulless, low PR directories. Hoping that the links would give your little green bar a tug. Have you ever used a directory to find something, I haven’t, I’m more likely to open my window and look for smoke signals telling me to head them off at the pass.

Any webmaster should be aware of the tools available to them. This is especially true for Google’s Webmaster Central, a collection of tools that allow you to better understand your website and give you more information about it.

    Thanks for the advice. The Google Webmaster tools are a very useful new addition.

    You can manage the crawl rate, so if you had a massive blog or forum and Google felt your server could handle it .. you can set it to crawl faster. On my sites crawl rate has gone up by about 50%. Very useful to get stuff indexed quickly!

    I think it will be an important part of SEO and webmaster tools very soon.
