I just got an email from a company I like and have been using for years. The email Tells me that I have a new personal account representative. However not giving me the persons last name anywhere in the email they just sent me, is somehow less than believable. The only thing that does is make me think you got a high paid consultant to tell you can with this idea. Be real and be genuine, or don’t bother me at all.

I got those from a company I like as well — it makes you wonder if the first name was just made up to make it look personalized when in reality the account goes straight to an email queue.

Or, just as likely, despite the fact that he wants you to call him “Bob”…the account rep’s real name is Mohinder. ;-)

I kind of agree. Talking with an anonymous representative gives that cheap retail automated feel to the communication side of things.

Hmm..sounds like dealing with MSN’s pay per click center, once you reach the “platinum” level, you get a “special” email contact, but not the actual representative’s name.
