I’ll admit one of the skills I’ve honed in the past few months is speed blogging. First off a killer app for speed blogging is Copy URL + combine it with Nick W of Threadwatch Performancing.com’s jsfile (here) and you’re off to a good start.
Next you’re going to need some practice getting what’s in your head past your fingers and onto the screen with reasonable speed and accuracy (yea my spelling stinks sometimes I know). I had a blog about a TV show and every week after the show my goal was to have the recap up within 60 minutes. As the season went on I actually got better at getting to the point and leaving out the needless fluff. By then end of the season I was writing on the fly, editing during commercials, and proofing as the end credits were rolling.
Since the deadlines were self imposed I had the luxury to deal with a learning curve. However if you want to see who’s really good at speed blogging check out Barry’s Pubcon Recaps , there’s a guy who’s got it nailed. Speed blogging isn’t applicable for every blog or even every type of post, however by pushing yourself you may find you’ll grow your skill set just a little bit.
