Twitter is great if you want to be a "brand," but when your social life affords you enough friends, Facebook is where it's at.

tl;dr go outside, make friends outside, add them on Facebook.

Excellent post! It's great to see that people outside of our industry can understand and see the value of Twitter. I'm kind of in awe of how powerful it's become.

Graywolf, I'd love to see you have this guy make guest posts more often, if possible. Great writing style. Real easy to read too. I'm sure others feel the same.

And if Facebook were 'king', they wouldn't have unveiled their "revolutionary new look" - ala 'Twitterbook' as I like to call it..

Arrogant, self-absorbed celebs think they know it all... Who would have thunk it?

Reminds me of when congress invited actors to testify on various issues because they had played regular people in movies - and the actors agreed!

Well, strictly speaking, you can friend-and-be-befriended craptions of random people. I did, right up until Facebook changed their layout and actually made it useful again.

In fact, given the new home page, given how it's -VERY- Twitter-like, and given that you can do more stuff like pictures, videos and longer-than-140 character messages, Twitter might just be teetering on the edge of a decline.

All that has to happen, is that twhirl, tweetdeck and the rest of the desktop apps have to support the Facebook Status feed in the same way Facebook.com does, and then the downhill crawl can begin.
