Lat week I received an email from Alexa stating they were going to remove the false data that associated my blog with some adult websites (see Update: Alexa Site Association Data :). Today I received a response from them regarding my other sites. For continuity purposes here is the original letter I sent to them:
I would like to file a presidential level complaint with your company
for revealing my confidential business information to my competitors.
You are displaying information about my business and it’s dealings (see
other sites owned in the left hand column). I request that you remove
this information within 10 business days or I will be forced to engage
in legal action.
and their response
Dear Michael,
Thank you for contacting Alexa Internet. We apologize for the delay in
our response, as we have been working through a large backlog in
customer support. We have updated our internal records as you have requested. These
changes will be reflected publicly in 1-2 weeks. We appreciate your interest in Alexa.
Best regards,
Alexa Internet Customer Service
I have no idea technically how a presidential level complaint differs from a standard level complaint but I learned a log time ago if you are want to get noticed (in a good or bad way) you always file one. If you want to get in touch here’s the contact form.

I can’t understand why it takes 1-2 weeks to update publicly.
That’s right up there with the phone solicitors that you ask to not call back and they say that it takes 2 weeks to update and if you receive any other phone calls, they apologize in advance… honestly, how long can it take?

Yep - always go right to the top.
My wife was getting the run-around from the service department in a state-wide car dealership so she wrote to the General Manager - marked it Private and Confidential - and within 7 working days she had her own service advisor.
From then on anytime she walked into that dealership to book the car in for a service the receptionist would spot her and make sure she was taken to the head of the queue and no one but her service advisor was allowed to serve her.
