All right since my whoring shameless self promotion knows no bounds, (and should make for some interesting inbound anchor text) I’m experimenting with myBlogLog. My buddy Jeremy goes for the hot babe approach, my interests are purely research oriented (oh all right I like being the center of attention it’s all about me, me, me dammit). I’m curious what benefits there are to being listed in the lower right top 50 communities section on the main community page. Looks like you need about 185 to get in but an even 200 would give me a little breathing room. I’ve currently got 124 so I need 76 more people to join my community. So how ’bout a helping hand. Did I mention that of all the people who read my blog you’re my favorite, no really I mean it, and I’m not just saying that … would you believe I’ll be your best friend … ever … for life … I’ll send you an iPhone … and pay the bill for a full year for your teenager to use it … including text and data …

Probably not too beneficial! Being listed as one of the six “Hot Communities” screenshots for two days didn’t give much traffic… I can only provide a rough guess since I don’t know how much traffic came in other ways, but I’d say you’ll get ~100 unique visits a day. (Depends on the screenshot of course and shoemoney’s probably get more clicks than my regular screenshot did)

Maybe I should add that the “Top 50 Communities” seems to be based on the amount of new members in the last calculated 24 hours. And of course bigger/bolder font is a sign more new members in that same period.

Lastly, I’ll add that adding a lot of somewhat relevant contacts does provide decent traffic and in my case I saw an okay conversion into feed subscribers.

The Hot Communities are based on a growth calculation that we’ll keep to ourselves and the Top 50 are by total population, calculated daily.

I joined your community a while ago back when you only had a few members. Congratulations on the growth.

Our community made it to the “hot communities” page but we did not (and still don’t ;) ) have 200 members. Maybe someday… :) .
