So one of the girls got a flat tire on her bike this week and I needed to get a new inner tube. I fired up google to search for the local bike shop and find the hours so I could go first thing in the morning and here’s what I got:

I clicked through and got my information. But I said to myself “self … why isn’t this connected to Google local”. So being the curious chap that I am I went to google local and looked

So Google knows the URL of Brands Fitness and Google Local Knows the URL of Brands Fitness why aren’t these two things talking to each other and connecting the dots? While I knew where I was going I could definitely see a link to Google local or even a link to Google maps being helpful to the user. You could make the argument that if they did that for Starbucks how would the know where to go. I think the PHD’s at the plex are smart enough to figure out if there is one result link to it if there are multiple results ask a secondary qualifying question.

Secondly Google local or Google maps whichever you are, how about when I do a directions printout make it so everything appears only on one page. I can’t tell you the number of times I’ve been in the car and going somewhere and realized I left half of the directions back home on the printer tray …

p.s. yes I did notice the second domain for the bike shop, nasty domain spammers, and no I’m not doing any work for a competing bike shop in the area you cynical bunch you.
