How To Get the Google Reader Tag Folder View on Your iPhone

I’ve never been a fan of the “river of news” style of reading rss feeds, prefer to organize and prioritize my feeds using the tag/folder functionality. When I was using a Samsung Blackjack there was a “tag view” option. However when I switched over to an iPhone, I got the new graphic rich version but lost tag view. Thanks to some help from Mihai from the google reader team I can view the tag/folder view again.

Here’s a screen shot of the default google reader iPhone view

if you click the feed button in the top left you get the tag/folder view shown below

You can then bookmark this page or the individual tag/folders. Thanks again Mihai.

So excited to read this but couldn’t believe I hadn’t tried it before. Upon trying I realized I actually had and it doesn’t work. The URL is the same for both and so you just end up with the same annoying default view. It still annoys me they took away the old mobile version. That was so much faster and more logical (killing the back button is so frikkin user unfriendly!)…
