This borders on the painfully obvious but I’ll say it anyway. Google if you are planning ever releasing the gPhone you could really increase the adoption rate if you give it the ability to natively sync with gMail and Google Calendars (no third party hacks/apps). Of course if you really wanted to take a bite out of windows have it sync with their stuff too. Do it from day 1, don’t launch without it. Trust me it’s a really really key feature …

I would say: 1) sync with Outlook, 2) sync with Google reader, 3) make it work with a working network provider (verizon), probably in reverse order now that I think about it.

Actually, I wrote a post about it – this is what I’ve heard about the gPhone.

I don’t care about the network, since I’m already stuck with Cingular/ATT… but for me the deal-breaker is that they’ve got to do it this year.

I’m ready to move on from my Windows Portable, or whatever it’s called, but after the recent hoopla @Apple I will at least give it a month or maybe two before I jump.

Google – build it better, integrate it with everything Gmail, Docs, Reader Offline, Outlook sync of course, plus OpenOffice? – and do it open. But don’t wait too long!

I don’t know much about the legal side of this shit…. but it seems odd to me that Google would be able to launch “Gphone” and AT&T has long had a cellular phone service called “gophone”…. you’d think that would be an obvious case for brand confusion no?

If Google comes out with a phone, it will be the first phone I must have.

They will release it as soon as the following make it out of google labs:

* gWife – Finally an online interactive companion that cooks and cleans your virtual world.

* gMan – New firewall/spyware that hunts for mob bosses.

* gWhiz – New cheese-like food dispenser

When the gPhone is released rest assure it will stand in stark contrast to Apple’s ireallydontownmyPhone.

Mr. Jobs is providing the Marketing 101 textbook writers with all new content on what not to do.

Given Google’s track record in Apps, API’s and mashups you can rest assure that the gPhone will be an open system.

Google likes Linux so I bet a flavor of Ubuntu would be used. (Canonical is from the UK, hmmm…)

OpenOffice for gPhone also has a nice ring to it.

Considering their recent ties with Sprint I’m guessing EVDO Rev A or WiMAX will be the broadband standard.

Oh what about GPS? That would work nice with Google Maps. Oh look, you can see where other gphoners are on Google Maps! (A little scary given that many wonder if Google is apart of the NSA “Affiliate program.”)

And since the gPhone is now a SatNav system lets sell AdWords spots to Hotels and tourist attractions along the interstates. (Click here to make your reservation…) (Saw that one coming a few years ago)

First: Michael, are you really bored or are there no other topics to write about?

Second: Rae, I can hardly wait to see a lawsuit of a “Lulu versus Zulu” type.

Third: when do we get a gFunny? Or better said: gCrap!

gaz October 2, 2007 at 4:19 pm

gSpot – when you see 5bars on your gPhone signal.

gGaz: when you get the best answer to news from 2 August. :D

lol Googles track record in APIs? Hmm hardly, the concept of open architecture is alien to Google. And lets be honest do we really need Google tracking us through a gPhone? They’ll inevitably use it to project adverts on to billboards as we pass.
