So I’ve been playing with some local/maps features and tried “click to call” and found it was pretty cool and useful.
You see the listing click the “click to call” icon enter your phone number and in a few minutes your phone rings. The caller ID says the destination number you pick up a computerized voice says “connecting” and in a few seconds the destination phone rings. I’m really pretty interested in what’s going on behind the scenes as there is obviously some third party involvement.
My evil tin foil hat wearing twin brother wonders if they monitor the number of calls, and length of the call to determine “quality” and use it in a local, standard or personalized ranking algo down the road. See what happens when you create this atmosphere of data obfuscation, it just leads to mistrust down the road …
