Since I’ve been experimenting with purchasing my my own name on Adwords, and I’m being forced to pay a premium price for it I’ve been watching my campaign closely, and there are definitely some problems.
I never use the content network when I advertise, for me the results are usually pretty poor. I do use site targeting on some sites usually with pretty good results. I also usually leave the search network turned on which puts my ads on AOL and ASK and some other places as well. Unfortunately it also puts my ad here

I imagine a lot people are looking for the DJ who shares my name, since a large portion of the searches are coming from the music section. I’m getting 10-20 clicks a day from MySpace from people who click my name and bail right away. So while it’s only $2-3 a day it’s $2-3 a day wasted, so I have to turn the search network off. That’s a shame because I’d like to be on ASK and AOL and some other places, I just don’t want to be on MySpace. The solution of course would be to give advertisers the ability pick and choose which sites from the search network they want to be on, as I imagine I’m not the only person with this problem.
