Michael, this is a really strange find. I’m not sure if you made it to my panel on Local and Blended search at SMX West — but the plus/minus drop down has been around for a bit. What’s odd about the example you’ve provided though is that the “Edit (New!)” text exists on the maps page itself.

A few weeks ago a Google Local Search project manager confirmed for me that whenever you see the red text of “New!” on the maps page as you do here:
http://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&um=1&ie=UTF-8&q=23310+Royalton+Rd+Columbia+Station,+OH+44028&fb=1&geocode=7825468151566643652,41.311903,-81.881227&oi=manybox&ct=14&cd=1&resnum=1

…then the listing you’re viewing is unverified.

Until this example, I had not seen the expandable map shown on an unverified listing. Really interesting find here.

Ya I noticed this a week or so ago. I was wondering why it doesn’t show up under my business’s website.

Hey Mike … I have been seeing that for quite a while now … I did an optimization campaign for a dentist in Fort Lauderdale last year … Here is the Google expanding map results for his site …

Mike, I think Eric mentioned something similar in the panel, or perhaps I just heard it generally at SMX West, but apparently these are showing in Adwords as well.

Besides that, it was very nice to chat with you, Todd and Rae at the bar, and I want to say thanks again for sharing your knowledge and time with me. On a related note, I really hope you reconsider the guest-posting thing and accept the disguised links post we discussed.
