I know comment spam is not only a headache and time sucking machine, but I’m also firmly of the opinion that comments and discussions can often add value to an original post.  Since I have no qualms about shameless self promotion I’ll point you in the direction of a comment I made today over on the BusinessWeek Blog Is advertising killing search?

Spam = the devil’s work. I hate it with a passion. I do like to leave comments on other people’s blogs, but I always try and add something to the conversation when I do so. Far too often you see lists of links for ‘viagra related’ websites - just cut and paste with no intention other than to spread their poison. I’m surprised to see you don’t have any visible anti-spam measures on here - word verfication is a good one.
