What’s the meaning of these tests?

I’d say it’s to see which search engines rank “constigratitude” and how – for this page, for Fox, for CNN and in which order.

It is also, I would think, to point out that the words surrounding the link (in addition to the anchor text, and especially in cases of ‘click here’) are important ways for us to tell a search engine what the linked-to page is about.

This is something many SEOs have been taking advantage of for awhile now, and my clients sometimes ask me why I didn’t link to their site with the anchor text from an article or something instead of “click here”. You should do both.

Thanks Michael; this will provide a useful example in a semi-controlled way.

It’s a great way to vary the way you target specific keywords – Thanks!
