A few weeks ago I received a copy of the new book ProBlogger, Secrets to Blogging Your Way to a Six Figure Income from Darren Rowse and Chris Garrett. The book is an excellent resource for anyone who wants to learn how to be a professional blogger–or how to monetize a blog they already run.
Before I go any further, in the interest of full disclosure, I will tell you that the review copy I received was provided free of charge. To be honest, though, getting a $25 book free of charge really isn’t enough to sway my opinion.
The book is divided up in several sections such as “setting up your blog,” “niche blogging,” “blog income and earning strategies,” and “blog promotion and marketing.” There isn’t a huge interdependence from one chapter to another, so you can skip around if you want to, but I do recommend going in sequence to get the most out of the book. The book is extremely easy to read and understand, which is a relief from the overly technical or marketing jargon-filled books you often come across.
If you’re looking for a plan about how to set up, build, start marketing, and lay the foundations for building a successful blog, this is a great book. If you’re looking for step by step directions about how to make a high-profit affiliate blog, you might find this book a little light on details: it focuses more on high level strategy and planning.
Running a high profit affiliate website is a different beast, and it is going to vary depending on your niche/topic. In reality, it’s something you have to learn by doing. However, if you already run one blog or a few blogs and want to start making money from them (or get more out of them from a traffic and exposure perspective) this book will give you some good tips and put you on the right path.
