When I talk with people about adding a blog to their sites many of them don’t get it. They say things like “c’mon is anyone really going to read a mortgage/bankruptcy/adult/dating news blog”. I have to honestly answer no probably not. However IMHO they are just taking too narrow a focus on things. If you pull back just a little bit it’s easy to find ways to relate their topics to things people are searching for.

One thing people love to search for is celebrity news, gossip and rumors. Who’s hot, who’s not, who’s doing what with whom, the possibilities are endless. The best people to write about are the same ones you see on the magazines at the checkout line at the supermarket, very hot, and very ‘front of mind‘. Some of you are saying ok GW I want to see you pull this together, well stand back and watch me, here are four ideas for you:

Mortgage News Blog
Celebrities buy and sell houses and estates all the time, they are opulent, extravagant and offer a wealth of opportunity. Have a weekly feature on your mortgage blog The Celebrity Real Estate Deal of the Week.

Bankruptcy News Blog
Got a debt consolidation web site, need new and fresh content regularly. Why not blog about celebrities who’ve gone from riches to rags, try something like The Star Cash Crash Blog.

Adult Entertainment News Blog
As long as there is a red carpet there will always be celebrity’s slips and wardrobe malfunctions. As long as there are nightclubs with alcohol celebrities will be doing scandalous things in them, why not have something like The Sinful Secrets of the Stars Blog

Dating News Blog
People really like looking for news about celebrity hook ups, break ups, and make ups. Why not run a feature like Celebrity Couple of the Week or Hollywood’s Heartbreak Hotel Blog.

See no problem you just pull back, shift your focus a little, think outside of the box, and you’ll be news blogging in no time. Something else to remember unless you have proof or it’s on CNN ,remember a rumor is just that, so use words like ‘hypothetically’ and ‘allegedly’ when required. Also be careful about hosting stolen celebrity images and videos on your website, they may bring you unwanted legal attention.
