One has to wonder do the folks at Microsoft actually read blogs? Judging by their most recent product release Max, I can only say the boys in Redmond are really disconnected from the way people do things.
After an excruciatingly long install the program launched in all it’s bloated, slow moving, web-2-point-oh-curvalaciousness. Everyone I know thinks and processes feeds like email in their mail client (ie outlook, thunderbird etc) or directly in their browser. Why Microsoft thought it would be a good idea to introduce a program that doesn’t interface with either of those two is actually quite mind boggling. Maybe they thought by making it look like a newspaper “regular folks” would feel more comfortable reading blogs
Here’s the thing people who want to learn about blogs are going to ask their “computer friend” about it and what software they should be using, I think I’m pretty safe saying no “computer people” are going to recommends this product. My biggest complaint about the product is what does it do. It aggregates the headlines and if you click to read it opens the feed in your current browser. IMHO it’s nothing than a pretty looking management layer that provides no value.

I’m confused. You’re saying that if I click anywhere on the headline or article, the article opens in a separate FF or IE window? Not inside of Max?

Yep it opens in ff or IE, not inside of max.

This is probably by design. If MAX were to use the integrated web browser (which is part of .net 2.0 and used the IE engine) Then they would probably be sued by the EU for some reason or another.

So a case of foolish development? Kind of like that damn frame on the new Netscape??

I didn’t get the Netscape frame thing either at first but now I think it’s actually clever. You can go read the story being linked to and if it’s cool vote on it. It works for me because I have a widescreen laptop, but I could see how others find it annoying
