Don’t blame me, blame Lee
I’m a shamless attention whore. I love the attention, I love to feed my ego. While I don’t do it just to hear the sound of my own voice, I have absolutely no problem being seen as a vocal upstart who’s a bit of a trouble maker, and blogging allows me to do that.
I’m a tinkerer. Many moons ago when I first heard of blogs I didn’t get them at all. I looked around and watched and had no idea what to do. I stumbled across Todd’s blog before I actually met him IRL and decided it was time to roll up my sleeves and give it a try and get some first hand knowledge. Nick starting to do audio podcasts, and just deciding to stop waffling on the issue and just do it, is what made me get a web cam and start doing video. Now you know exactly who to blame
It allows me to be editor. I think the lines between publishing and journalism are blurring. My personal approach is to think of blogs more as magazines than newspapers, but I guess that’s because I don’t run any truly “daily” blogs. While I don’t consider myself a journalist per say, I would say an editor is one of the hats I wear.
Blogging is a necessary brain dump. As my late night chat buddy can tell you I have a head full of crazy ideas. If I didn’t let them out and empty my head from time to time there would be massive congestion up there. In fact I’ll often email people an idea I had right away so I can not tie up any mental velcro.
It pisses off the rents. Ok I don’t have any “parents” or “grown ups” telling me what to do, but for John Q. Public saying your an active blogger is still fringe behavior. I like being seen as slightly obtuse and I do have “authority issues”, and being a blogger helps me draw that dividing line.

Wow, I felt like I wrote that post. You pretty much summed up why I blog as well.
Do you come from an engineering background like I do?

Like with the last meme that came through the SEO blogosphere, I am tracking the growth of the “Why I blog” meme through a blog tag tree (like a family history tree). This makes it easy to know who has been tagged already, and to get to everyone’s answer really easy.

Enjoy!

Shit, this reminds me someone tagged me with this meme two months ago. I was gonna reply, even wrote up a draft but then forgot all about it…Thanks for the reminder.
