Your muscular system moves your body. The muscular system helps you do things like talk, breathe, digest food, and move. Your muscular system consists of over 630 muscles throughout the body. Muscles can only pull, they cannot push so muscle must work in pairs so they can pull in opposite directions. This way muscles can do things like bend your fingers or kick a ball.
There are three different types of muscles in your body. They are Skeletal Muscles, Smooth Muscles and Cardiac Muscles. Each one has a different type of job to do. Skeletal muscles are attached to your bones and are used to move your body. Smooth muscles are found throughout the body and they do things like regulate blood flow and move food through your stomach. Smooth muscles are not under the control of your brain, they operate on their own. Cardiac muscles are found within your heart. They are also not under control of the brain, just like smooth muscles.
